Originally known as Sekolah Seri Suria, R.E.A.L Schools, Suria Campus in Cheras was
the first school to be established under the R.E.A.L Education Group in 1986. In 1999,
due to the increasing demand for private education, R.E.A.L Schools, Cahaya Campus in
Shah Alam (formerly known as Sekolah Seri Cahaya) was formed. This was followed by
the introduction of R.E.A.L Schools, Cahaya Campus, Johor in 2008.
R.E.A.L Schools have an impeccable disciplinary record of zero gangsterism, zero truancy, and zero vandalism. Besides stellar academic achievements, R.E.A.L Schools also have always been advocates and believers in extra-curricular excellence. This includes exposing our students to a variety of sports such as swimming, badminton, basketball, taekwondo, karate, judo, and even wushu. Placing equal emphasis on nurturing students' talents as well as creative (and critical) thinking skills, R.E.A.L Schools have introduced innovative activities such as LEGO Education and an Arts & Design Programme. The unique Arts & Design programme consists of three main modules - Fashion Design, Graphic Design and Fine Art. This after-school programme provides young, budding 'designers' with a proper platform to hone and showcase their talent - all in a purpose-built studio with the right tools and guidance.
R.E.A.L Schools are located at three campuses (Suria Campus in Cheras, Cahaya
Campus in Shah Alam and Cahaya Campus in Johor) and offer both national and
international curriculums. For the national curriculum, the school adopts the local
KSSR and KSSM (enhanced with overseas syllabi) for primary and secondary levels
respectively. Our international schools meanwhile, offer the Cambridge primary and
Cambridge IGCSE programmes for students from Years 1 to 11.
To better cater to the needs of our increasing student body, a new multi-purpose, six- storey facility was recently completed at our Cahaya Campus in Shah Alam. The new complex includes a rooftop sports court, new classrooms, computer labs, art and design studios, a design and technology room, a dance studio, a cooking room, a library, and a bigger canteen. Most of these however, are standard facilities found in each of our R.E.A.L Schools campuses.
Since its establishment, R.E.A.L Schools has attracted many students; not only
Malaysians but also students from over 20 countries. The teachers too, comprise both
locals and expatriates, bringing with them a wealth of knowledge and invaluable
experience. Students also learn in a family-like environment, with great importance
placed on pastoral care.
The school maintains a low teacher to student ratio - with a maximum number of 24 students per class. This ensures greater individual attention paid by the teachers to their students' progress and overall development. All R.E.A.L School students are guided by the 'Five R.E.A.L Pillars of Life' - which are: Character Building, Language Mastery, Effective Communication Skills, Interpersonal Skills and the Science of Multiple Intelligences. These tenets are designed to nurture the students to be confident, global-minded citizens who possess sound character, intellect and social skills. Such qualities epitomize a 'REAL Student', one groomed to be a sought-after individual.
A R.E.A.L School distinguishes itself by using a student-centred approach towards learning and assessment. The teaching methodology adopted emphasises on interactive learning where open, two-way discussions between student and teacher are regularly encouraged. Exercises to develop presentation and public speaking skills to foster self-confidence, communication skills and independent thinking are also a norm in the school.
R.E.A.L Schools' continuous commitment in providing quality education was recognised
when its Suria and Cahaya campuses picked up multiple NAPEI Awards in 2007, 2009,
2011 and 2012. NAPEI is the National Association of Private Educational Institutions and
its award to R.E.A.L Schools for 'Educational Excellence' under the Schools category is
testament to how far the school has come from its humble beginnings 28 years ago.
In fact, the school has been gradually making its mark in national-level LEGO
competitions such as the First LEGO League (FLL). In the field of Art, Fashion and Graphic
Design, the Suria Campus students and staff have even organised a full-scale fashion
show and art exhibition that was of near professional standards. An auction also took
place during the event, where the best student artworks were sold to the highest
bidder.
Even in the area of performing arts, R.E.A.L Schools are no strangers to hosting crowd-pulling and classical musical plays such as 'Phantom of the Opera', 'Mamma Mia' and 'Tarzan'. R.E.A.L Schools are also proud to have young and highly promising sporting individuals like national ice-skater Michelle Shepherdson, national shooter Joseph Lee and Malaysia's top junior golfer Chang Ervin, in their ranks.
