Epsom College in Malaysia (ECiM) is a new international school scheduled
to be opened in September 2014. Founded by Educ8, ECiM will be operated
under the license of Epsom College in the UK. Epsom College was established
by Dr John Propert in 1855 as a school to educate the sons of doctors and has
Her Majesty, The Queen, as patron.
With a long history of educating Malaysian and other international students in England, our branch in Kuala Lumpur is a natural extension designed to further the College's international reputation and increase the number of pupils who can benefit from an Epsom College education.
Epsom College in Malaysia is a new boarding and day school situated on a 50-acre site at Bandar Enstek, south of Kuala Lumpur. Seen as a major development in the field of education in Malaysia, Epsom is a co-educational school that uses the British National Curriculum with all teaching conducted in English.
At ECiM, our aim is to provide exceptional all-round opportunities - academic, social, sporting and cultural - in a safe and supportive community. We are a school that aims for excellence, and values both achievement and endeavour. We challenge pupils to develop their talents and broaden their interests; to become confident in themselves, and to be tolerant and appreciative of others.
Based on the home model, Epsom College in Malaysia will combine academic excellence with a first class British boarding experience, with up to 90 per cent of the Senior School boarding. The emphasis will be on creating a family environment within a structured school routine, with a traditional British House system fostering a strong feeling of belonging and community.
Pupils at ECiM will follow the National Curriculum for England, with all subjects taught in English. Students in the Senior School will study IGCSEs and A-levels and children in the Junior School will follow the New English Curriculum. The levels can be categorised as :
ECiM will expand Epsom College's international reputation as a provider of high quality education, maintaining links with and, placing students at the world's leading universities and medical schools, including those in the UK, the USA, Malaysia and regionally.
Our primary source for teacher recruitment will be the UK; trained professionals with experience and qualifications necessary to deliver the National Curriculum for England at their relevant school phase. Educators with British boarding school experience will be represented in the faculty composition. Teachers with international experience and a full teaching qualification of other nationalities will also be considered for appointment.
ECiM offers a wide range of activities that include sports, art, design and technology, drama, dance, and music.
ECiM is a purpose-built campus situated on a 50-acre site with 80 classrooms, a theatre, a music school including teaching rooms, a music and technology recording studio, a recital hall and music practice rooms, art and DT centres, dining halls, a fully staffed medical centre with nurses on call 24 hours a day, a sports centre, a swimming pool, three astroturf pitches and other sports areas for rugby, cricket, tennis, netball and squash.
Entry Requirements & Selection Criteria
To enrol at ECiM, students have to sit for an assessment that is carefully tailored to their age. A student's educational experience and background will also be taken into consideration.
The school looks for signs of promising academic potential and fully accepts that profiles can be somewhat uneven. We aim to put your child at ease throughout this process to encourage them to perform to potential.
