Cempaka School was founded in 1983. It has since expanded to form the Cempaka Group of Schools, comprising three school and an A-Levels College, Spread over two campuses, one in Damansara Heighs and the other in Cheras. Students range in age from four (Reception) to eighteen (A-Levels). The latest addition to the Cempaka Group of School will be Cempaka Ladies' College, which opens its doors in 2008. This will be the first private residential secondary school for girls in Malaysia.
Cempaka Schools' education philosophy flows from the belief that the child's development is nurtured through the mind, body and soul. Through rigorous mental stimulation, physical challenges and appreciation of the arts, a child can blossom into a scholar, sportsman and gentleman.
One of the ways in which Cempaka Schools achieves its philosophy is through continuous mental stimulation. The mind is the driving force that powers the body and nourishes the soul. With a supportive environment and a dedicated network of teachers, students develop self reliance, self' discipline, and good leadership skills.

Each year, Cempakans gain entry to several First Tier universities abroad, such as Cambrigde, Oxford, Edinburgh, Yale, Harvard and Stanford. Equally, Old Cempakans are found in increasing numbers among the ranks of young professionals, at home and abroad.
Cempaka provides a suitable learning environment with the latest in education technology. Wireless internet access campus-wide enables fluid learning mobility in and out of the classroom. Fully equipped IT laboratories further a child's education in the hi-tech age of 21st century.
The Cempaka Group of Schools was honoured with the first Apple Distinguished School Award in South Asia for dedicated use of technology as a teaching resourse. Both Damansara Height and Cheras campuses are fully 'wireless' with a built-in television set in each classroom, for an interactive approach towards studying. Computer labs are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to aid the teaching of animation, video editing, desktop publishing and creative writing.
Furthermore, students are exposed to world of media and journalism with the Cempaka Network Broadcast Centre where they are given opportunities to host live interviews and talk show on campus.
A Cempaka education rests on the recognition that a healthy mind resides in a healthy body. An extensive range of sporting facilities is offered,including soccer, water polo, badminton, table tennis, swimming, synchronized swimming, netball, fencing, archery, rugby, basketball, volleyball, wall-climbing and handball. Swimming is compulsory. Able swimmers are encouraged to take up a life-saving course.
Through a wide range of team games, young Cempakans grow up strong and healty and learn the value of teamwork and the spirit of sportsmanship.
Cempakans experience the excitement of competition when four School House compete with one other in sport. During the annual Swimming Gala, Games Carnival and Sports Day, creativity and leadership skills are put to the test. The atmosphere, through taut with competitiveness, is festive, and memorable.
Cempaka Awards Scheme
The aim of this Scheme is to develop Cempakans into well-rounded persons. This is done systematically. Upon enrolment, a student is given a book where his activities and achievements in sports and co-curricular activities and achievements in sports and given appropriate points. There are four categories : Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. A student progresses in achievements from Bronze to Silver, to Gold, and finally to Platinum. This Scheme accurately reflects a student's involvement and achievements in sports and co-curricular activities.
The Performing Arts completes the trinity of a Cempaka education. Theatre productions allow students an opportunity to develop and 'showcase' their talents, whether as actors, dancers, singers or on the grand piano, in the string section, the wind section, or as part
of the production crew taking care of the lights, sound, or props behind the scenes.
A caring attitude to others cannot be taught in the classroom. It has to be learnt through experience in the classroom. It has to be learnt through experience and practice. It is through activities like charity drives for victims of natural disasters, as well as hospital visits to children's wards, students discover meaning of being a responsible member of the community.
