Tenby International School
Tenby Schools Penang
A United World at Peace - Through Education

Tenby Kindergarten provides education and care for children from 4 to 6 years of age. We emphasize the method of 'learn-through-playing' where children will find the lesson lively, enjoyable, memorable and interesting. Penang
The children have the opportunity to participate in PE, Computer, Art, Drama and Music classes each week. They are able to develop their knowledge and understanding of the world as they participate in activities related to different topics. In addition, the children will have the opportunity to explore, inquire and discover aspects related to Geography, History, Technology and Science. The activities on offer also help the children to develop an international mind-set alongside their awareness of their own nationality.
We also use materials and activities which ensure that your child is ready and prepared to join the Year One / Standard One class in both the international and Malaysian schools.
We place a very big emphasis on the child's desire to learn and believe that their social and emotional development are very important. During all activities, this aspect of their development is encouraged and supported so that we create enthusiastic, motivated and excited learners. We believe that it is vital that they develop the right attitudes and dispositions to become lifelong learners.
Tenby Kindergarten
Our Preschool / Kindergarten is a half-day programme. The main focus of our Preschool programme is learning through play. We adopt a hands-on approach to learning which allows the child to have fun exploring the world, while developing their physical, cognitive and social skills in a creative way.
The Kindergarten follows the early years programme of the International Primary Curriculum based on the English National Curriculum. While this programme allows for learning through play, it prepares the child for entry into the more formal setting of Junior School.

Tenby Schools - A Recognised Name in Education
Tenby International School (TIS) was established in 2007 and offers a student-centred secondary programme for both Malaysian and international students (Years 7 to 11) based on the English National Curriculum in Key Stage 3 and the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) in Key Stage 4.
In the new campus at Tanjung Bungah, TIS will include an Early Years Department and Primary School, which teaches the International Primary Curriculum (IPC).
A Holistic Curriculum Targeted to Help Secondary Students Excel
The school offers a course for 11 to 13-year-olds based upon the National Curriculum for England. All students at the end of Year 9 take the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) Checkpoint Examinations. This assessment provides a good indication of an individual's performance compared with others around the world in these key subjects.
The course offered to students from 14 to 16 years old is the IGCSE. There is a wide range of subjects available but all students study English Language, Mathematics, Chinese, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Students can then choose a variety of options from the Sciences, Humanities and Arts.
All students take either eight or nine IGCSEs. Our course ensures that all our students qualify for the International Certificate of Education (ICE). The IGCSE examination is very similar to the GCSE examinations in UK schools but the content is more flexible in order to make it more universal and relevant to youngsters around the globe. In ensuring that all students follow a broad and balanced curriculum up to the age of 16 we hope to provide opportunities for all to excel, and to equip them with the knowledge and skills required for success after school.
Excellent Location
TIS has an enviable location in the heart of George Town, Penang, in the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia. It has excellent links to the rest of the country by car, air, rail, bus and ferry.
Its strategic location, just one hour by air from Bangkok, Medan and Singapore on daily direct flights, affordable fees, and safe and peaceful environment, make it a highly attractive option for any parent wishing their child to have a quality, international education.
Cosmopolitan Community
Situated on the same premises as Sekolah Sri Pinang, its Malaysian sister school, TIS students immediately benefit from rich cross-cultural exposure and opportunities to interact with Malaysian students, preparing them for life in a globalised world. This unique feature of the school also gives our international pupils a cultural immersion experience that immediately helps them settle into the Malaysian lifestyle.
Student-Centred Learning
A distinctive feature of the school is our emphasis on small classes and a personal approach to teaching. We believe in assessment for learning and aim to guide our students closely.
At TIS, great care is taken to discover a student's individual potential and inclinations in order to bring out his or her personal best, whether it be in the area of academics, sports or the performing arts. Our teachers are all qualified, trained and committed to helping every pupil be the best that he or she can be. For them, teaching is a calling and not merely a profession.
Developing the Whole Person
TIS aims to provide a holistic, all-round education that develops the whole person beyond the classroom. An extensive list of extra-curricular activities is available and every pupil is encouraged to actively pursue personal interests and hobbies that build character and social responsibility, enhance talent and creativity, contribute to the community, and increase awareness of the world in which we live.

A Tradition of Learning and Excellence
An established presence and tradition of educational achievement, Sekolah Sri Pinang (formerly Sekolah Sri Inai Pulau Pinang) was the first private school in Penang in 1981. The school still remains the largest and premier private school in Penang. Many students from Sri Pinang have gone on to be leaders of industries and government.
An Integrated Programme from Pre-School to Fifth Form
Tenby Kindergarten is an excellent foundation for young learners (3 to 6 years old) with its innovative approach to early learning. Sekolah Sri Pinang Junior (Standard 1 to 6) teaches the Malaysisn KSSR Primary Curriculum. In addition to the five core subjects taken for the UPSR (Standard 6 Government examination), students may opt to take Chinese as an additional subject.
After the UPSR examination in Standard 6, preparatory lessons in English, Bahasa Melayu and Mathematics are provided to those requiring them, to ensure a smooth and seamless transition for those who wish to continue their secondary education at Sekolah Sri Pinang Senior.
Sekolah Sri Pinang Senior offers the Malaysian KBSM Secondary Curriculum for Form 1 to Form 5. The students here have the opportunity to learn and interact within an international community in the school, as both the school and Tenby International School are located on the same campus at No 21, Lorong Burma, Penang.
A comprehensive list of subjects for both Arts and Science streams are offered in the school. Students also have the option of sitting for IGCSE subjects to complement the local curriculum, through an arrangement with Tenby International School, Penang.
Student-Centred Learning
Small class sizes ensure personal attention to every student, with individual progress closely monitored.
The extended school hours (8:00am to 3:30pm) for both primary and secondary sessions essentially mean that every student receives adequate teaching in the various subjects, and there is no need for extra tuition outside school. Where required, the school arranges remedial classes at no extra cost.
The single-session co-educational concept means convenience to parents, a better all-round education for your child, and more quality family time.
Developing the Student's Potential
We recognise that school life is more than academic. To this end, a full range of activities beyond the classroom ensures that every student finds his place, develops his identity and thrives in the rich and multi-faceted community life that makes up Sekolah Sri Pinang.
Clubs and society abound, from performing arts, to sports to the uniformed societies. We are particularly proud of our award-winning Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

If someone is tearing their hair out, they are extremely worried or agitated about something.
