Health Programme to Start in Schools
A new mental health programme is set to start in schools.
Health Minister Liow Tiong Lai announced that the Health and Education Ministries would jointly launch a pilot mental health programme in four secondary schools.
The six-month project will start immediately in SM Sains in Teluk Intan, Perak; SMK Ahmad Badawi in Kepala Batas, Penang; SMK Simpang Bekok in Malacca; and SMK St Michael in Penampang, Sabah.
Under the project, students will be subject to a mental health evaluation, and selected teachers will be trained to translate the results as well as advise students on ways of reducing stress or depression.
