KTJ @ Imperial College, London for a Night of Music
27th October 2012 - A group of former students organised a music night at Imperial College. This was the first time such an event was held in London.
Beijing agrees to help address shortage of Chinese language teachers
The Foreign Minister, Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, said that China is willing to provide the country with manpower to train local teachers to address the shortage of Chinese language teachers. This measure is already being considered and could be implemented soon. The country also seeks to have more exchange programme students between the two countries.
DPM: Do more to improve access to preschool education
Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, has stressed the need for the private and public sectors to cooperate in improving access to preschool education. He said that for the past two years, the government had offered incentives such as start-up grants, tuition aid and teachers’ training to those who were interested in setting up private preschools in order to encourage the establishment of more private preschools.
Number of international schools set to exceed target
Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong has recently announced that the number of international schools will exceed the target of 84 by 2020. There are currently 70 international schools operating in the country with 24 new licenses being approved.
Education Ministry to consider dual medium of instruction
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the Government would study the possibility of using two mediums of instruction in the teaching of Science and Mathematics in schools.
