Background of the school
APIIT Smart School is a Malaysian private school that conducts the
Malaysian National School Curriculum and is enhanced by a wide
range of co-curricular activities. A part of the APIIT Education Group
commenced operation in January 2006. Using the Smart School
concept, its objective is to provide an educational structure that
allows for the mental, academic and physical growth of each child in
a nurturing and student-centric environment.
Uniqueness/Outstanding Feature of school
The school is purpose-built, and is beautifully landscaped and spacious. It has 88
classrooms and a host of special rooms and laboratory facilities. The facilities include
the Smart Card to monitor student attendance and purchases (e-purse); the use of
broadband facilities; small classes with a maximum of 28 students per class, a ½
Olympic sized swimming pool, music studios and a range of sporting facilities.
The psychological environment which encourages thinking provides students with
opportunities to experiment and learn. In a knowledge driven society, students at
APIIT are armed with the tools to seek, manage, share and think creatively.
Academically, there is a focus on the mastery of three languages, viz. Bahasa Malaysia,
English and Mandarin. Students also participate in co-curricular activities like music,
martial art, swimming, speech & drama and information communication technology.
Fairly rigorous assessments of the students, not only through the traditional methods
of examination, are conducted regularly.

Primary
The curriculum at APIIT Smart School is based on the Kurikulum Bersepadu Sekolah
Rendah (KBSR) as approved by the Ministry of Education Malaysia. The primary
medium of instruction is Bahasa Malaysia, with Mathematics and Science being taught
in English at all levels. It is enhanced with compulsory subjects like Mandarin, Music
(Instruments), Speech & Drama, Information Communication Technology, Martial Art
Programme (Taekwondo) and Swimming.
Secondary
The secondary level is based on the Kurikulum Bersepadu Sekolah Menengah
(KBSM) as approved by the Ministry of Education Malaysia with the main medium
of instruction in Bahasa Malaysia; and Mathematics and Science subjects taught in
English. Students are prepared for the Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) as well as
Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) conducted by the Examination Syndicate (Lembaga
Peperiksaan). Students also take compulsory subjects like Mandarin, Music
(Instruments), Speech & Drama, Information Communication Technology, Martial Art
Programme (Taekwondo) and Swimming.

Co-Curricular & Extra curricular activities
The school offers a wide range of co-curricular activities that focus on the development
of our students' different skills and talents. Included in the school curriculum are:

Music Club, Mandarin Club, Robotics Club English Language Society, Bahasa
Malaysia Society, Historical & Geographical Society, Persatuan Pendidikan Islam and

Marching Brass Band.

Badminton, Soccer, Table Tennis, Basketball, Netball, Hockey, Softball and Cricket.
Through carefully selected external providers, students also have access to a range
of extra curricular activities which are typically held after school hours, usually within
the school's facilities. Parents make arrangements directly with these outsourced
providers, for which additional participation fees will be payable. These activities
enable students to develop their skills to advanced and competitive levels, and

APIIT Smart School is built on 10 acres of land consisting of three blocks, i.e. the
Primary, Secondary and Facilities blocks.
Our modern classrooms are designed to be student-friendly, open and accessible. All
campus buildings are securely linked together, giving access to the air-conditioned
classroom and various facilities. The vibrantly coloured walls both inside and out are
designed to foster creativity and innovation in the children.
Campus facilities include science laboratories (physics, chemistry, biology); Apple
Macintosh labs; cafeteria; music studios (piano, guitar, violin, drums, brass and
woodwind); learning resource centre; living skill workshop (cookery, woodwork,
mechanical and electrical, and sewing)

Entry Requirements
Students are required to sit for the Basic Entrance Test (BET).
The BET will test students in Bahasa Malaysia, English and Mathematics according
to their previous or current level of study. The BET is used as an assessment tool for
teachers to understand the specific requirements of each student and to customise
their learning needs accordingly. |
